How to customize/brand a community portal (whitelabel and domain name)

Most people use Authorea to author and preprint scholarly manuscripts. However, more and more people are starting to use Authorea as an overlay journal, as a conference portal, or as a private workspace and public portal for a research group. Find out more about communities here.


Basic customization


If you are the administrator of a community, you can change the banner and the logo. A simple community page with custom banner and logo is shown below (https://www.authorea.com/inst/18992)



To change the banner. Make sure you are logged in to Authorea and that you are the administrator of the community portal. In the top right of the existing banner, you should see a little camera icon 📷Click it to pick a different banner image.
To change the logo, navigate to the Community Settings and upload a logo

Advanced customization


If you are the administrator of a Premium Community (paid feature), you get access to peer review and additional customozation options that include whitelabeling your community portal (removal of Authorea logo at top left) and custom domain name. Make sure you are on the Community Premium plan (sign up on the Pricing page) and let us know at info@authorea.com that you would like to whitelabel your portal
To customize your domain name:
Register a domain name. You can use services such as Google Domains or DNSimple
Set a domain's A record (from your registrar's DNS settings page) to point to 52.44.46.195
Send us an email at info@authorea.com to let us know you have performed steps 1 and 2.
